Both Sides of the Coin

MAGO has a different story than most of the talent and models of Nijah / New Faces Development. He was an industry professional first, but he is also an artist, fashion designer, and now, commercial spokesperson. MAGO may have years of experience in the entertainment industry, but he chose Nijah / New Faces Development when he needed to step from behind-the-scenes.

MAGO, aka Enrique Martinez, began in the industry as a Nijah / New Faces Development scout. He was a natural at discovering fresh faces and exposing them to the worlds of modeling and acting. “We selected talent that had no experience and no exposure, and after Nijah / New Faces developed them, we could package them and introduce them to agents and casting directors,” said MAGO of the process.

In the midst of scouting so many models and actors, MAGO became inspired to join them. During the spring, his design work caught the eye of the Human Rights Campaign, who asked him to design t-shirts and become their spokesperson. MAGO knew he could easily design t-shirts, but he had no experience in starring in a public service announcement.

In need of development for himself for the first time, he consulted the experts at Nijah / New Faces Development. “It was great; I knew I was getting assistance from the best. I knew Nijah / New Faces could help me, because I've watched them develop so many models and talent. Thanks to them, the commercial went well and I was fabulous when the cameras turned on.” MAGO learned a lot from his own experience. “Now I see how fortunate models and actors are to have a place like Nijah / New Faces Development. Nowhere else can you receive that type of in-depth guidance.”

Following the commercial, MAGO got Nijah / New Faces Development models to help him make a splash at the HRC's celebration at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. As the models showcased MAGO's t-shirts he noted, “All the models tonight are from Nijah / New Faces Development, and people can't take their eyes off of them.” As he continues to showcase his art and fashion designs all over New York City and the Hamptons, MAGO still utilizes the skills he acquired. “Nijah / New Faces Development is here with me every step of the way. They are my roots. They are my family.”
