Jack of All Trades Andrew Cheng began showing an interest in modeling while watching television at his home. His parents always felt he had potential as a model, but wanted him to experience everything the world had to offer. They enrolled him in dance lessons, swimming lessons and karate. He also plays the piano and the violin. When he was scouted by Nijah / New Faces Development at the Roosevelt Field Mall, the opportunity for him to act on his interest in entertaining came true. Since his development, Andrew has appeared in a national Nikon commercial and a bike riding commercial. Despite his success, he remains focus on school and his extracurricular activities. “I don't know yet if I'm going to model for a long time. I want to be a doctor. I guess I can be both; a doctor and then model during my breaks. Then when I'm done, I'll perform a surgery.” As humorous as it sounds, Andrew is very driven and confident. It doesn't suprise his parents that he has such ambitious goals at such a young age. “I know how bright my son, so it wasn't a surprise at all how easily he adpated to acting,” said his mother. The only challenge, notes his father, is how competitive he is. “He thinks he should win at everything!” Andrew already has his sights set on the level of fame he wants to accomplish. “I like performing, but I don't like to sing.” His personal idols? “Michael Jackson, Jackie Chan and Justin Bieber!” Andrew's father added, “We tell him to have fun in whatever he does. This was about letting him try. There wasn't a specific purpose,” and with the guidance of Nijah / New Faces Development, Andrew is succeeding.
