What are you looking for when you’re scouting new talent?

A personality that has a lot of confidence and individuality as far as the eye can see. Looks are one thing—that will always be a part of what we do, but we also want someone who is easy to work with, and who looks unique in comparison to what is out there.

Someone who is new or different really appeals to me. Someone very beautiful--but original--is becoming more and more difficult to find. We need someone with personality and originality. We always hope to find that in new talent.

What do you like about face-to-face meetings with talent?

Well, I’m relatively new to Major Models, so I expect it to be a learning situation. But meeting talent face-to-face allows you to see if they're a good fit or not for your agency or brand. Face-to-face eliminates all the guesswork. You learn the most about the talent that way.

Do you feel like development is essential for breaking into the industry?

The development aspect is crucial. You could have the “it” factor naturally, but there’s no way you can know everything about the industry without someone teaching you or giving you an opportunity to start.

How much do you think Nijah/New Faces Development assists the talent?

As someone who is on the inside looking out, I'm confident I can find what we need when Nijah/New Faces is involved. I’ve been doing this for 15 years and there’s always talent here. Always.
